FAQs
How long does a building survey in London take?
The length of time a building survey takes depends on the size of the property and the extent of any defects that may be identified. As a reference, inspecting a standard three-bedroom home in good condition can take several hours. Larger properties or those with numerous defects will require additional time. For exceptionally large homes, it is common for two surveyors to conduct the inspection together.
Can I meet the London building surveyor on site?
If you’ve commissioned a London building survey, you can request to meet the surveyor on site. This must be arranged in advance, as we need the vendor’s consent – occasionally, they may decline – and we also require payment before the survey takes place. Please mention this when booking your survey.
We will schedule a time for you to meet the London building surveyor, typically towards the end of the inspection. Meeting earlier usually isn’t helpful, as we won’t have substantive findings to discuss. For the best service, it’s important that you don’t stay for the full inspection, as this can be distracting and prevent us from completing a thorough London building survey. In most cases, around 20 minutes is sufficient for the surveyor to explain the key findings.
