I can’t recommend Steven Wray at Collier Stevens highly enough. He carried out the Level 3 building survey on our Grade II listed cottage in Hythe before we bought it, and it has genuinely been worth its weight in gold. The survey was incredibly thorough, clear and practical, identifying not just the issues with the building but explaining their significance and how they should best be approached. Steven also has the added benefit of a real understanding of older and listed buildings, which was particularly valuable to us. It gave us a very clear picture of what we were taking on before we purchased, and has continued to be an invaluable reference as we’ve subsequently planned repairs and conservation work. His advice has proved remarkably sound. Steven was approachable, pragmatic and generous with his knowledge, without ever being alarmist – exactly what you want when buying a property. An excellent survey from someone who clearly knows his stuff. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Steven and Collier Stevens.Posted on Google

I was very pleased with the Level 3 survey I purchased - it’s definitely a worthwhile investment if you are buying a property. No property is perfect, but the depth of information provided in the Level 3 survey that Collier Stevens undertook gave me peace of mind. It was reassuring to know that a qualified and experienced professional had thoroughly assessed the property and clearly explained any potential issues. Jay Routh769 days agoI couldn't recommend Collier Stevens enough! It was really easy and quick to get a quote and then progress to booking in our level 3 survey. Sheila was very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. The report itself is very through comprehensive but understandable. Specialist terms are explained in very clearly and it was very easy to understand. It plainly pointed out things that need addressing and gave a clear and realistic outline of what was urgent. We were also encouraged to call our surveyor after receiving the report for any further questions which was very reassuring. Received an extensive well presented 88 page report from the surveyor Grahame Dowse. Communications with the company was excellent with Sheila Low the practice Manager being most helpful. Aimee Robinson1000 days agoI found Collier Stevens after a quick google search of party walls and feel that I could not recommend a team more, their website is full of helpful information and lots of case study examples. They were there to answer all my questions in regards to the Party Wall Act, for some repair works required on the dividing floor of my flat and the flat above within a converted victorian terrace. They helped guide me through the whole process, from the start, using their online template to first serve notice all the way to finish. Wayne and Steve went above and beyond to help me and their receptionist was quick to pass my initial enquiry on to the team with a matter of urgency. Miranda Muses1031 days agoI first met Steven Way (Collier Stevens) at an AGM freeholder/tenants' meeting in Folkestone. From the outset, Steven was open and approachable and was willing to answer all our questions with patience and clarity. He not only demonstrated his expertise with regard to the maintenance and repair works on the building but also offered solutions based on urgency and allocation of funds. Furthermore, he listened to our questions and offered suggestions to the managing agents to make the budget and work schedules clearer to the freeholders. After the meeting, he was kind enough to explain and answer some specific questions I had with regard to my flat, and visited my flat to follow up and give me advice. Steven was punctual and courteous and his help went beyond my expectations, particularly as he stayed longer than the anticipated duration of our meeting. This entailed giving me advice and guidance with regard to pressing problems I was having with a Section 20 notice. Steven followed up, as he said he would, and has helped me navigate a potentially tricky situation. He is clearly a competent and professional surveyor who I would not hesitate to recommend highly. Jules James1087 days agoSteven Way was extraordinarily brilliant in helping me diffuse, disentangle a potentially nasty neighbour boundary dispute with a neighbour who had been bullying my mum. He logically took me through one step at a time, pointing out the right things to do, document, things to say/write, and investigate. Last thing anyone wants is a dispute as it would cause problems at sale. I'll say more, Steven as well as being top of his game in party wall boundary issues is one of the most nicest, kindest and most genuine people I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. Peter Carter1556 days agoWe were having great difficulty with our party wall surveyors and our neighbours architect who were failing to acknowledge that our extension had been moved on the their drawings to indicate that our wall was a party wall which it clearly is not Steven was incredibly knowledgeable and gave me the ammunition to have the neighbours drawings changed and to bring some correction to the surveyor who were supposed to be acting in our interest. I wouldn't hesitate to use again or recommend their services. He went above and beyond in advising us what works needed to take place on the property, and followed up the report with a call and a second visit to the property to check the works which was really appreciated. I was very pleased with the quote provided by the pleasant lady who took my call, continuing my enquiry to seek an inspection of a particular concerning aspect of the building to determine the extent of the problem, and hence my offer. Surveyor Steve called me back promptly, discussed the matter, offered to borrow keys from the agent and take a look whilst he was in the area, then reported to me comprehensively. All that within 24 hours, and declined payment! I'm now hoping to make an acceptable offer and shall certainly ask Steve to perform the survey if all goes well. Ian WhitePosted on Google

On every occasion the professional and friendly service I received from Steven Way his expertise, attention to details and willingness to accommodate meeting him at the properties at the end of his survey to advice on any major issues and give a summary of his findings pending his full report. Steven's excellent communication throughout my process were outstanding. In light of Steven's findings and recommendations I was able to renegotiate the asking price for my purchase.Posted on Google

In particular he is willing to meet clients on site and give practical advice which is helpful/essential if you are buying an older property or a property where you intend to do extensive renovations. marilyn6643364 days agoI will be recommending Collier Stevens to all my friends I have nothing but praise for their handling of my move . Their surveys have both ( my 1st choice of house was a disaster) been so thorough and easy to understand and anything I didn't was explained. Over the course of my move I have spoken to most of their staff who have been courteous and knowledgeable. I also feel that their fees are very reasonable given the level of service they offer .
